WHAT IS STOCK MARKET ?

The stock market, also known as the equity market,

is a platform where individuals and organizations can buy and sell shares of publicly traded companies. When a company goes public, it offers a certain number of shares to the public in exchange for funding. These shares represent a portion of ownership in the company, and individuals or organizations that buy them become shareholders.

The stock market provides a mechanism for buyers and sellers to trade these shares, with the market price of the shares determined by the forces of supply and demand. Stock prices can be affected by a variety of factors, including the company's financial performance, economic conditions, and investor sentiment.

Investors can buy and sell stocks through various channels, including brokerage firms, online trading platforms, and financial advisors. The stock market can offer investors the opportunity to earn returns through capital appreciation (an increase in the value of the stock) and/or dividend payments (a portion of the company's profits distributed to shareholders). However, investing in the stock market involves risks, including the possibility of losing money if the stock price declines.
